Ammo repacking for shotguns

I am having a debate with a friend of mine about repaking ammo.

Neither one of us have any real experience, so we're not sure where to look to get the answers we want, but I am telling him I'm pretty sure you can pack shotgun shells, and he is saying you can't.

(Number 9 birdshot, etc)

I'm aware that people pack their own bullets for sure, so I figures you could probably buy empty cartriges and BB shot too.

Is there a store for getting shotgun ammo re-packing supplies?

Of course you can. Most skeet and trap shooters need to just to keep from breaking the bank.

Cuts your shooting costs by 50%.

Yes, you can reload shotgun shells. You'll have more luck on google with "reloading."

Reloading shotshells is actually a simpler process IMO than reloading centerfire cartridges.

There are books to tell you what kind of powder, primers, and wads to use for any given hull; start collecting hulls, all of the same type. Powder and shot are measured by a controlled volume "bar" and if you follow instructions can be done safely.

I shoot far more reloaded shotgun shells than factory so as others have said yes, you can reload shotgun shells. Right now however the savings are not as good as the have been just a few years ago because since the election component prices have risen sharply due to shortages. I have a good stock of primers for myself and I cast my own shot so the price increases haven't affected me yet but I dread having to start buying primers again.

The two red loader with the long wooden hadles are Mec shotshell reloading presses.

Absintheur,

Now THAT is a nice bench setup!

I help a buddy of mine run a little site called http://reloadingmadeeasy.com. Has lots of info specifically on reloading if you are interested.

Interesting to me seeing this topic on GIM, as I'm a little surprised there isn't more talk of reloading considering the various advantages it can give you. And on a survivalist note - you can make your own brass if you had too, bullets are EASY to make, and powder is even doable. BUT - primers seem to be the week link in the whole thing. I've yet to meet anyone that can make their own. THAT is something you may wish to stockpile even if your not big into reloading.
